Privacy Policy

Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how Jester Software LLC, doing business as Gabagoolio (“Gabagoolio,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), collects, uses and shares personal information when you use gabagoolio.com (the “Service”). The Service is a free job board with a map. It matches job listings to you, estimates commutes, shows rental listings and area information such as housing costs and crime, and fills in job application forms for you when you ask it to.

Information We Collect

  • Account information: your name and email address from Google when you sign in with Google, and an account id made from your name or email address. Your sign-in code, kept in your browser, works as your password. We also record the time and network (IP) address of each sign-in, and of your use of the board at most once an hour.
  • Front page sign-up: an email address left on the front page, with the time and the page it came from, so we can tell you when the board opens.
  • Board information: the home address you drive from, a second place you choose to measure distance from (your sweetheart spot), your commute and scoring settings, the jobs you mark applied, queued or archived, the rentals you save, and the notes you write.
  • Application details: your My details answers, including your legal and preferred name, pronouns, email address, telephone number, street address, profile links, work history, education, references (their names and contact details), desired salary, start date, relocation, travel and remote preferences, and any other facts you add.
  • Eligibility answers: work authorization, visa sponsorship, citizenship status, security clearance, export control status, whether you are over 18, criminal conviction history, and willingness to take a drug screen or background check.
  • Voluntary self-identification: gender, race or ethnicity, veteran status and disability status. These answers are optional, given with your consent, used only to answer an employer’s voluntary questions, and can be deleted at any time.
  • Uploaded documents: the resume, cover letter and transcript you upload, and the cover letter paragraph you write. Our server reads your resume to fill in your details.
  • Application records: for each application the Service attempts, the job, its progress, the questions the form asked and the answers given, the changes you ask for after reviewing a filled form, a progress log, and pictures of the filled form.
  • Feedback: what you send through the Feedback box and the page it was sent from, together with your account id and email address.
  • Usage data: page views, clicks, form submissions and session recordings, described under Cookies and Tracking Technologies.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain and improve the Service.
  • Rank listings for you, estimate drive times from your home, and show area information.
  • Fill in employer application forms when you direct it, including a cover letter built for each job from a fixed template and your own paragraph.
  • Ask you the questions an application needs that you have not yet answered.
  • Respond to feedback and support requests.
  • Keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.
  • Tell you when the board opens, if you left an address on the front page.
  • Email you notices about your account, these policies and security.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The front page and the board use PostHog, an analytics service, to see how the site is used. It gathers page views, clicks and form submissions, and records sessions on both pages so they can be played back. Recordings are configured to mask anything typed into a box. Answered questions, your details and pictures of filled forms are left out of recordings. PostHog keeps an identifier in your browser so that visits join up. PostHog also receives your browser’s network address, browser and device type, and the approximate location worked out from the address.

Once you sign in on the board, your account id, name and email address, and whether applying is switched on for your account, are sent to PostHog with your sessions, so a recording belongs to a named account. Earlier visits from the same browser are joined to that account too. A visitor who never signs in stays anonymous.

The board keeps your sign-in code, a few display choices, the last position of your sweetheart spot, and the drives it could not route (pairs of your home and job locations) in your browser’s local storage. Signing out or deleting your account removes all of them. Google’s sign-in button may set Google’s own cookies under Google’s privacy policy. The Service shows no advertising and uses no advertising trackers or cookies.

You may delete cookies and browser storage in your browser settings; doing so signs you out.

The Service does not change its behavior in response to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals. It does not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing for those signals to opt out of.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has given us personal information, write to support@gabagoolio.com and it will be deleted.

Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on servers in the United States and travels between your browser and the Service over encrypted connections (TLS). Stored data is held by the hosting and storage providers named under Third-Party Services, each under its own security program. The board requires sign-in, each account’s documents are kept in a folder of its own, and backups are kept in a private storage bucket. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Data Breach Procedures

If a breach affects your data, we will:

  • Notify affected users by email without unreasonable delay, as required by law.
  • Describe the scope, the affected data and the remediation steps.
  • Cooperate with regulators and law enforcement.

Data Retention

  • Account information, board information, application details, eligibility and voluntary self-identification answers and uploaded documents are kept until you delete your account, or longer only where the law requires.
  • Application records are kept for your newest 200 finished applications; older records are deleted.
  • Pictures of a filled form are deleted about a day after the application fails or is cancelled, about 30 days after the pictures were taken once the application is submitted, or when the application record is deleted, whichever comes first.
  • Only the newest 500 sign-in and visit records, counted across all users, are kept. Older records are deleted.
  • An address you type, and the town nearest a pin you drop, are also kept, without your name or account, in a shared list of places already located on the map. Each drive is kept, without your name or account, in a shared list of routes holding its start point (your home, to within about 10 metres), its end point and the arrival time. Neither list is cleared when you delete your account.
  • A front page sign-up address is kept until the board-open notice is sent or you ask us to remove it.
  • Feedback is kept until you delete your account or ask us to remove it.
  • Account records (including sign-in codes), front page sign-up addresses, all listings, each person’s job marks and notes, and settings are backed up once a day. The newest 14 daily copies are kept, so deleted data leaves the backups after 14 further daily backups.
  • A closed job listing is removed after 90 days unless you applied to it, queued it, archived it or wrote a note on it, or a source still lists it.
  • PostHog keeps analytics events for 1 year and session recordings for up to 30 days.
  • Anthropic keeps what the application agent sends it under Anthropic’s commercial terms.
  • Our server logs record account ids and request details for operating the Service and are kept under our hosting provider’s log retention.
  • Aggregated or anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for analytics.
  • An application already submitted to an employer is held by that employer under its own policies, and we cannot delete it from the employer’s systems.

Your Rights

  • Access, correct, export or delete your personal information. You can view and change your details, settings and documents on the board at any time.
  • Withdraw consent for voluntary self-identification answers by clearing them in My details.
  • Once signed in, you can use Delete my account in Account settings. It deletes your account immediately, along with your sign-in and visit records, feedback, front page sign-up address, board information, application details, eligibility answers, uploaded documents, application records and pictures of filled forms. It stops any application in progress and clears what the board keeps in your browser. Backup copies age out within 14 days. It does not delete PostHog analytics data.
  • Email support@gabagoolio.com to delete your PostHog analytics data and recordings, to remove your entries from the shared lists of located places and routes, to export your data, or to remove a front page sign-up address when you have no account. We act on verified requests within 45 days.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the following rights:

  • Right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to.
  • Right to delete personal information we collected from you.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
  • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use it only to provide the Service you request, so no further limit applies.
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

In the past 12 months we collected these categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers: name, email address, network address and account id.
  • Contact details and street address.
  • Protected classifications: gender, race or ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, citizenship and whether you are over 18.
  • Professional and employment information.
  • Education information.
  • The contact details of references you name.
  • Location information you set on the map.
  • Internet activity: usage data.
  • Electronic and visual information: session recordings and pictures of filled forms.
  • Inferences: how well listings match you.

Sensitive personal information among these is your sign-in code, citizenship and work authorization, and voluntary answers on race or ethnicity and disability.

Sources: you, your use of the Service, and Google when you sign in with Google. Purposes: those listed under How We Use Your Information.

Vercel relays, and Railway stores, every category except usage data and session recordings, which go from your browser directly to PostHog. Other recipients:

We do not sell personal information, including that of consumers under 16, and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and have not done so in the past 12 months.

To make a request, email support@gabagoolio.com from the address on your account. Delete my account does not remove PostHog data or your entries in the shared place and route lists; an emailed deletion request covers those. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission. We verify a request by matching it to the email address on the account.

Third-Party Services

  • Hosting and database: Vercel serves the web pages and relays every request between your browser and our server; Railway runs the server, the database and the application agents.
  • Map tiles: Cloudflare serves the map tiles, and receives your browser’s network address when the map loads.
  • Backup storage: Backblaze B2 holds the daily backups.
  • Analytics with session recording: PostHog, as described above.
  • Sign-in provider: Google, when you sign in with Google.
  • Maps, geocoding and routing: the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service receives an address you type, or the position of a pin you drop, so it can be placed on the map. A routing service (the public OSRM service, or Google Routes where enabled) receives the two points of a drive, from our server or directly from your browser. They receive nothing about who asked, apart from your browser’s network address on requests your browser makes.
  • AI provider: Anthropic. When you direct an application, an agent that fills in the employer’s form with Anthropic’s model sends it pictures of that form, the job posting, your application details, eligibility answers, voluntary self-identification answers and references, the cover letter written for that job, any changes you asked for after reviewing the filled form, and your saved answers to earlier application questions. Anthropic does not train its models on this data under its commercial terms.
  • Employer application systems: when you direct an application, the employer’s careers site or hiring system receives your application details, eligibility answers, voluntary self-identification answers, and your resume and cover letter as the form asks for them. Your transcript is stored but not yet sent to employers. After submission the employer’s own privacy policy applies.

Hosting, storage, analytics, map and AI providers process personal information only to perform their task for us. Employers and Google handle what they receive under their own policies.

Where the Data on the Map Comes From

Job postings come from employers’ careers pages and from job listing services, including Adzuna and USAJOBS. Rental listings come from property managers’ public listing pages (such as AppFolio, RentVine and Buildium sites). Crime figures come from Los Angeles Police Department and California Department of Justice data. Home values and rent come from Zillow research data. Maps and buildings are © OpenStreetMap contributors.
